The Trouble Is You Think You Have Time

Image
The most important thing to me is my ability to be present. Think about it! If the whole world was blind how many people would you impress? I constantly consider this upon any and every interaction. Of course,  I'm not perfect. I have my days, but in the long run I do try my hardest to be the best version of myself that I can be. With that in mind, I was adamant about making senior year the best that it could possibly be. This year, it was a goal of mine to make my time left in this chapter of my life the best that it could be. It was bittersweet noticing all the lasts of the year and of my high school career. The last football game... getting ready with all of my friends at one of our houses, decking ourselves out in accordance with the theme of the night, then rushing to the game to make it there at an hour and a half early to tailgate, then assemble ourselves at the front of the student section. We would cheer so loud and so long so that our voices were gone the next morning. ...

The Diary of all the Diaries

Part 1 Upon first glance at Walt Whitman's journal I personally thought that it looked very tedious and in much thorough detail. Throughout the journal things are crossed out but not erased, which sort of gave me a seizure to continuously look at. Like ever heard of white out at least? There were many names and addresses of people in scribble-cursive that I thought may be possibly friends, colleagues, acquaintances. I also noticed that there was a theme among the notebook of respect and adore for Abraham Lincoln. He creates a make-believe conversation between him and Lincoln discussing their commonalities. He begins by talking about his first experience with Abraham Lincoln and leads that to the revolution of the union. Whitman raves about Abraham Lincoln and his groundbreaking work and revolutionary movements he made. I believe that his adoration for Lincoln may have established his optimistic, inclusive perspective on equality in the United States. Lincoln could have possibly b...

I Dreamed A Dream

Image
Dreams. They're the building blocks of a life full of "life". The American Dream Most commonly, the American Dream is a checklist; a rather depressing checklist. The checklist is essentially the movie Marley and Me, which I'm sure you are all familiar with. - go to college -get a degree -meet a significant other and get married -have a steady job that make lots of money -buy a puppy -have a baby -raise a family - live your life This, my friends, is the "American Dream" to most people. Society is essentially wired to strive to make money and have a family of their own, hence a life of their own. This dream for so many people is the social norm of the century. Most importantly, in order to have said dream, one must become successful in terms of monetary value. Monetary value is essentially the standard of society socially speaking. An example would be celebrities; celebrities' importance is often related to their net worth, whic...

IO U C ME

Image
Ha I thought that was funny. Anyways, I am going to add to what everyone else most likely said and say that I lost my train of thought about 320458932875 times and said the same thing about 239742893 times. So yeah. Anyways. Practice makes perfect! IOC Practice Planning Recording Grading Myself Understanding: 6, Personally I feel as though my understanding of Macbeth is adequate but I meant to explain my analysis much more. Literary Devices : 5,  I explained a couple different uses of devices but could have done much more Organization: 7, I thought my organization was good. I gave context, background info for the characters, and then provided analysis. That being said, I can always improve. Language: 4, MY LANGUAGE COULD HAVE BEEN SO MUCH BETTER. THAT WAS HORRIBLE. Comments: Waverly- Great job girl! I was so nervous too haha I messed up a ton. I agree with most of your grading for yourself. Nerves really mess us up. You could have provided much more analysis a...

FREEBIE WOO HOO!

Image
Hi Mrs. Genesky, I have decided to use my freebie this week. My life is LOCO. So yes. I hope you have a great weekend!  I recently watched a documentary on a baby elephant and had to share! Below is a picture of my favorite animal on this planet, the elephant. This specific elephants name is Naledi, which means star in the African culture. Naledi is a baby elephant whose mother, Kiti, passed away when she was very young. Naledi was raised by the humans at the preserve that she lives in in Botswana, Africa.  Naledi is an adorable, charismatic little elephant and now has a documentary about her on Netflix! It is a must watch. If you don't, you're lame. Naledi is one little elephant but one MIGHTY elephant. I have watched this numerous times and every single time I sob. Elephants are a passion of mine and most definitely the most beautiful creatures on the planet. Anyways, sorry about the rambling.  BUT SERIOUSLY GO WATCH! Comments! Lexie- I loved the con...

Covers, covers, oh my!

Image
I thought it was time to switch it up. I needed some color on my blog. The First Cover (top left) - This cover features a girl who looks like a princess, sitting in a bright, sunny field. It is very bright and cheerful, which correlates to Ishiguro's statement of Never Let Me Go being his most cheerful novel. The irony of this cover is that although the cover is very colorful and happy, the story line is very dull and sad. This cover has the ultimate purpose of portraying the positive side of Never Let Me Go . The Second Cover (top right) - The first thing that caught my eye was the boat drifting among a marsh area in the fog, similar to a major scene in the book where Tommy, Ruth, and Kathy come to a revelation. At this point, Ruth has gone through donations and is getting close to completion. This is a major change in the book due to the fact that up until this point, Ruth has kept Tommy and Kathy apart and controlled a majority of their lives. She is finally letting go ...

Is Happiness Worth It?

TED TALKS! WOO! BEST. DAY. EVER. Let me just say right off the bat, I. LOVE. TED. TALKS. I would most definitely campaign to make TED a tv series with a talk once or twice a week. If this dream of mine did come true, you would absolutely see me sitting on my couch, dachshund pajama pants on, a smoothie in hand, simply mesmerized by the speaker and their message. There's something about the way in which each speaker has such diverse perspective and purpose, yet deliver their speeches in such similar ways. The commonality yet versatility is continuously grabbing my attention, so much so that I have the TED app on my phone. And yes, instead of watching Grey's Anatomy, The Walking Dead, Pretty Little Liars, and all the rest of the popular teen shows, I watch TED talks.  Out of my love for TED talks, I am hoping for at least a 90, as I got an 89 last time. Grades smades. Happiness is the key! Moving on. You see why this blog post is the most exciting one yet. Emily Esfah...
